Community college success under scrutiny

While many City College students are on the cusp of opening acceptance letters to four-year universities, many more are falling through the cracks, according to a recent academic study on the effectiveness of community colleges. Having to carry multiple credit cards and cash at school is soon to be a thing of the past. City College Student ID cards will act as a debit card for all their campus needs such as books and food by this fall. State budget faces potential deficit

The state budget for the 2007-2008 fiscal year may be $726 million less in revenue than predicted, according to California's Legislative Analyst Office in a report Feb. 21. Community colleges, which receive a portion of the state's budget under Proposition 98, may need to get a $172 million reduction in funding before the end of the 2006-2007 fiscal year in June to counter the projected revenue loss.… Post the First Comment

Out-of-state tuition rises again by $7 per unit

A bureaucratic oversight has forced the college to recalculate the cost of tuition for out-of-state students. Beginning with the 2007 summer semester, out-of-state tuition will increase an additional $7 per unit from $166 to $173. Students in Sobriety formed an Alcoholics Anonymous Program at City College. It meets every Tuesday at noon in CC-225.
