The Lady Vaqueros succeeded in winning the championship in the Western State Conference for the second year running; this year's match was held at the River Lakes Gold course in Bakersfield played Oct. 29-30.

"I am very happy with the way the girls played," said coach Chuck Melendez. "We have talented players."

"As a team the performance was fantastic," said one of the star players of Lady Vaqueros, Natalie Todd. "We won, we cannot do anything more than that. I want to win state. I want to play well both as a team and individually."

Victoria Alimonda expressed relief in the final result.

"I am very glad," she said. "I felt a lot of pressure because it was the last game of conference, but it all paid off. Everybody is in the same boat."

Alimonda shot 79 the first day of the conference and 75 the second, Amber Clifford shot 76 on day one and 81 on day two, and Todd fired a score of 86 and 84 respectively.

The team score was 626 total, 26 shots below second place College of the Canyons.
